War Factory: Transformation Book Two
Neal Asher’s War Factory is the second book in his Transformation trilogy. The events in War Factory continue right after the first novel Dark Intelligence. The protagonist, Thorvald Spear, was resurrected from the dead one hundred years ago and continues in his quest to find and destroy his archenemy, a dark A.I. Penny Royal. Penny Royal killed Thorvald Spear a hundred years ago, which is why Spear was resurrected. Now, Spear is on a quest to avenge Penny Royal and its organization called Polity. During his mission of revenge, Thorvald Spear must work together with a wide variety of characters in order for his plan to succeed.
Because the events in War Factory follow what happened in Dark Intelligence, the second book won’t make sense if you haven’t read the first one. However, if you have, then you will find War Factory equally as engrossing as Dark Intelligence. The action is thick and almost non-stop. Character development is strong and fluid, with the characters continuing to evolve and develop. The plot is very unpredictable and full of surprises. In addition, the book is full of cool alien technology and equally cool aliens. Granted, War Factory is the ultimate space opera and military sci-fi thriller worthy of a Hugo Award.
