THE BRINK

The fourth installment in the Vince Ramsey Series offers what you’d expect from a James B. McPike story – action, adventure, and thrill, all mixed with a history lesson. The Brink follows Vince and his wife April, who will soon be adding a blessing in a few short months; with all assuming life has settled down and parenthood is their biggest challenge. Vince gets pulled from semi-retirement when he receives an unexpected call from a friend about a missing archaeologist. From there, murder, mystery, and mayhem are around every corner and no one is safe from Vince Ramsey when they cross him on the wrong side.

McPike does an excellent job of bringing myth and reality together to allow the dreamer to continue dreaming. Prominent themes include the atrocities of war and evil, the importance of history, and includes Christian undertones. I found myself lost in the pages, oblivious to my surroundings, but so focused on Ramsey and the overall excitement. I loved how everything came together for the closure every reader will need. The story has similarities to National Treasure with treasure hunters needing to get their hands on this story!
