Murmrr Lit is thrilled to welcome Damon Young on March 26 for the release of his debut book, What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker: A Memoir in Essays, a funny and profound exploration of what it is to be a black man in America. Having made a name for himself with trenchant and hilarious commentary on the culture site VerySmartBrothas, which the Washington Post called “the blackest thing that ever happened to the internet,” Young is poised for significant literary attention with his first book. He’ll read and be led in conversation by major journalistic talent Nikole Hannah-Jones, followed by a book signing.

Damon Young is a co-founder and editor in chief of VerySmartBrothas, a senior editor for The Root, and a columnist for GQ. What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker is his first book. He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and daughter.
