Books of Wonder is proud to present an afternoon with author/illustrator KELLI ANDERSON for her beautiful pop-up book This Book is a Planetarium.
Kelli Anderson is an artist, designer, and tinkerer who pushes the limits of ordinary materials and formats to seek out hidden possibilities. Her work puts forth the notion that intimate, handheld experiences can challenge our complacency regarding how the fundamentals work. Her latest book, This Book is a Planetarium, reveals a different functional paper contraption with each page turned: a constellation-projecting planetarium, a strummable musical instrument, a geometric drawing generator, a perpetual calendar, a message encrypter and decoder, and a speaker that amplifies sound.
So join us Sunday, January 28th from 1-3pm at our 18 W. 18th Street location for wonderful afternoon where Kelli Anderson will share a little bit about her work, her process, her research, and to answer questions about design, paper engineering, and pop-up book production.
