In his book, Stephen approaches stand-up as both a craft and an art form and deals with technical writing, performance, and developing persona in comedic work. Steve approaches stand-up to help his students learn to write, to be comics, and to be ultimately, actors. He analyzes performances of names like Louis C.K., Sarah Silverman, Jerry Seinfeld, Mel Brooks, Groucho Marx, Jerry Lewis and Richard Pryor.
