A Collection of Lies (A Kate Hamilton Mystery)

While on their honeymoon in Devon, American Kate Hamilton and her husband, English Detective Inspector Tom Mallory, have agreed to try and find the provenance of a Victorian dress that might have belonged to a murderer. The dress is to be part of a local museum exhibit. But before their work can begin in earnest, shots are fired inside the museum during a gala fundraising event. A local politician is assumed to be the target, but it isn’t long before the local patron who donated the dress is also killed. Now Kate and Tom are tangled up in a full-blown murder investigation. Can they help the local police find a killer and still find time to uncover the history behind the mysterious Victorian dress?

Connie Berry has written a multi-layered, clever, and complex mystery that blends past and present into a page-turning pleasure. It was my first time reading this author, and I loved the setting, plot twists, and characters. I felt like I had traveled to Devon and back without leaving home. I can’t wait to read more of the Kate Hamilton Mystery series.
