A Fire in the Night: A Novel
A Fire in the Night tells the story of a man named Nick Anthony who goes to the cabin he owns to mourn the death of his wife, Ellie. He receives a knock on the door by the local deputy, who tells him that his estranged brother and sister-in-law have been found dead in their home. It doesn’t look like an accident or suicide. Nick also learns that he has a sixteen-year-old niece named Annaliese, who later comes knocking on his door, sick from traveling all the way from her home in Tampa to Nick’s cabin in North Carolina. As he nurses her back to health, he starts finding out more information about what his brother was into.
This book was captivating from start to finish. Nick finds himself in a bind when a group of men hunt him down to claim what they feel belongs to them. Nick’s military background is not only convenient but necessary as he fights for his life and Annaliese’s. Fast-paced action, thriller, and suspense all in one, A Fire in the Night is great for fans of Baldacci and Patterson.
