A Grave Deception: A Kate Hamilton Mystery
Kate Hamilton is an American antiques specialist living in Britain. She’s been asked to evaluate some jewelry found at an archaeological dig site in the British countryside. The site also contained the well-preserved body of a woman that Kate would like to learn more about. But when the body of the lead archaeologist turns up dead at the dig site, Kate can’t help but get involved in the investigation being conducted by her husband, Detective Inspector Tom Mallory. Now she’s got her hands full with an ancient mystery and a contemporary crime.
A Grave Deception is an engaging mystery with a twisty plot, a nice English setting, and interesting characters. The author creates the right amount of tension in the story and between the characters to keep the reader engaged at a great pace. I did feel that a bit more research would have been useful for understanding how one actually completes a British PhD, since this was a major element in the case. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story and plan to read more by this author.
