A Thing Called Snow
Fox and Hare were born in the springtime and grew up through the summer. By the time fall comes around, they are very best friends. Each had a special talent. Fox can smell things far away while Hare can hear things from a long way off. They both love to jump and bounce and leap around. One day a bird stops by and tells them soon they will be playing in snow, but before they can ask what that is, the bird flies away. Fox and Hare go through the woods asking their friends Bear, Moose, Salmon, and Goose what snow is, and each gives them a different answer. They are a long way from home when the stars come out. They decide to sleep by the lake and go home in the morning, but morning brings a wonderful surprise.
Yuval Zommer is both illustrator and author of this enchanting picture book. Each animal character has an important role, and they all seem to care about each other. The story is cute and will engage little ones, but the real highlight here are the sweet illustrations filled with delightful details that will keep little eyes on the pages.
