For the hikers and adventurers, Alaska Adventure: 55 Ways will help fill a hole you never knew you had. Initially written by Helen D. Nienhueser in 1972, Alaska Adventure can’t be contained in one version. It has been a guide for many over the past fifty years and is presently updated by Nienhueser’s son and granddaughter, who share the family’s love of adventure and appreciation for nature.

Native to Alaska, the co-authors list fifty-five ways of exploring and appreciating what Alaska offers, along with presenting tips, suggestions, and general and specific information related to each trip in Kenai, Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Copper Basin they have accomplished.

Alaska Adventure is motivating to get out and see what is around and available to us all. The pictures throughout the guide are crisp, professional, and breathtaking. The writing is direct and comprehensive with each turn detailed to a T. The book is excellent for experienced travelers and outdoorsmen, while for less than experienced travelers, or more-so dreamers, the guide is informational and a worthwhile read for the beauty in both the pictures and words.
