Bad Day Breaking

Sheriff Heidi Kick is unable to catch a break at work or home. A stalwart ally is retiring from the department, while a loose cannon deputy becomes her new number two. Her disapproving and disputatious mother-in-law is currently living with her and her family. A religious group, possibly a cult, named the House of Shalah has riled up the townsfolk and occupies a string of storage units. In addition, a dead body has been found near the local dam. The victim was a member of the cult, but the circumstances behind his death remain murky.

While Heidi balances the pitfalls of career and home life, there is instability in the House of Shalah. A couple of members have disappeared and been replaced by unsavory types. Disgruntled locals are looking to evict the cult and Sheriff Kick is trying to avoid a deadly standoff.

Bad Day Breaking is the latest enthralling thriller by John Galligan bringing the reader back to Bad Axe County. The storyline develops through the eyes of a few key protagonists and proceeds to pick up steam as the volatile situations threaten to explode into a fusillade of bullets, explosions, and death. Galligan continues to impress with this series.
