Bless Your Heart: A Thriller
It’s 1999 in southern Texas, and the Evans women own and operate the only funeral parlor in town. When the dead start to rise, though, their business starts to become a bit overwhelmed. They haven’t seen anything like this for fifteen years, when they thought they put a stop to it. That is the other side of their family business. The Evans women bury the dead, but also kill them again when they come back. Clearly, something is back, and this family will stop at nothing to protect their own, but Bless Your Heart, you do look delicious.
I enjoyed the family dynamics of these strong women and the twist at the end; however, there is quite a bit of confusion as to whether this was a vampire story or not. The cover and the synopsis both make it seem like it is, and some things that happen make it seem that way as well, but the Evans women constantly state that the undead are not vampires. I’ll try not to be too critical since it’s all mythological anyway. If you enjoy supernatural stories, especially ones that leave things open for another book, then this is for you.
