Cross My Heart: A Novel

Rosie has recently undergone a heart transplant and begins messaging her heart donor’s husband. Though the donor portal is anonymous, Rosie quickly surmises that she is in contact with a famous author named Morgan, and she begins to fall for him. It appears that he’s falling for her too, and after suffering from a breakup with someone she thought was “the one,” Rosie is anxious to find her perfect match.

Megan Collins delivers a propulsive thriller in Cross My Heart, and the Taylor Swift lyrics peppered throughout made me so happy! Rosie is an unreliable narrator, as we learn that she was obsessive over her past lovers, and on the same path with her new crush Morgan. Yet their love story is interrupted by a heinous crime, and Rosie becomes a top suspect.

Part two of this novel gave me whiplash, as it delivered a shocking twist. However, the ending was too over the top and every female character was crazy. Some of Rosie’s decisions were truly frustrating as she played detective, but it made for a wild ride.
