Dictatorship: It’s Easier Than You Think!
Ever wonder how dictators come to power? How do they manipulate people and gain control? It’s easier than you think actually, according to Sarah Kendzior and Andrea Chalupa. They present a witty graphic novel detailing the steps a dictator must do in order to win over the minds and hearts of its people and country.
The book is very timely, relevant, and disturbing. It’s scary and disheartening to see how history is repeating itself as new dictators come into power. There were so many historical points I did not know about. It was very fascinating reading about the success of North Korea’s dictatorship and how it lasted multiple generations.
Those in the West naively think that living in a democratic country, dictators can’t come into power. The year 2016 should be a warning lesson. The authors talk about how Trump is doing the same thing as previous and current dictators from other countries.
This is an eye-opening and educational book for anyone who likes history, politics, or current events. I will definitely be asking my children to read this book.
