Eliza Starts a Rumor
I almost forgot how much I miss the television show Desperate Housewives until I read this book. Eliza Starts A Rumor is a well-written story about several women brought together around a little fictitious post that Eliza puts on the local online women’s bulletin board that she moderates. In an attempt to make the bulletin board exciting, Eliza decides to create a story about a married woman having an affair with a man. The woman has moved to get away from her lover but the man has followed her and comes over banging on the door. Because the post is anonymous, it creates a frenzy in town. Several women think it is their husband and when Eliza realizes it, she is guilt-ridden. On top of that, Eliza has her own secret that she has not told anyone for thirty years.
This book has numerous characters who all become intertwined within the story. You’ll find yourself cheering for the women as they band together to help one another out. From babies to cheating husbands to new relationships, Eliza Starts A Rumor will make you laugh, cry, and empathize.
