Famous Last Words: A Novel

Camilla wakes up for her first day back at work after having her daughter, only to find her husband isn’t there. Luke left a cryptic note and isn’t answering his phone. Camilla heads to work and hears there is a siege going on downtown at her husband’s workspace. Her first thought is that he’s a hostage, but as the police come to question her, everything she knows is turned upside down when she finds out he’s actually the gunman. Over the next seven years, secrets come to light about what really happened that day and what Luke meant with his Famous Last Words. McAllister has done a wonderful job of making complex characters, as well as a complex tale that we would all hope to never be in. As you discover things along with Camilla, you wonder yourself, how well do you know the ones you love? Would you immediately assume the worst or think that there must be some rational explanation because they would never do this? If you enjoy domestic thrillers, this is a book I highly recommend. This is a book that cares about the characters and not just the plot.
