Fat Ladies in Spaaaaace: A Body-Positive Coloring Book

We rated this book:

Contrary to what one might believe from watching science fiction movies and reading many popular comics, the universe is filled with women of all shapes and sizes. And being skinny isn’t a precursor to being amazing. Artist Theo Nicole Lorenz wants to make sure everyone knows this, and her new adult coloring book, Fat Ladies in Spaaaaace, offers all kinds of fun characters to prove it. These simple line drawings, perfect for coloring in by adults (or teenagers), feature women with names like Jeneva, Pepin, and Blackthorn-862, all of whom have larger body-types that have never held them back from cool jobs and hobbies. Time travelers, botanists, assassins, and more can be found in these pages. The pictures are very straightforward with descriptive captions, and the right colorists are sure to enjoy adding vibrant colors as their imaginations demand. While there are sure to be some who will mock a book like this, the truth is that in our weight-obsessed society, it’s quite refreshing to see women like this depicted in these kinds of roles.
