Finlay Donovan Is Killing It: A Mystery

Finlay Donovan is having a bad day. She is supposed to meet with her literary agent. Finlay’s daughter cut her own hair (and her head in the process) and then decided Mommy needed to tape her hair back on. All Finlay has is duct tape and no scissors. She wipes the blood off with a burp rag and dumps the rag, duct tape, and knife she used into the diaper bag, and heads off to drop the kids at her ex-husband’s. He fired her babysitter so it’s only right. While she is describing her new murder mystery plot to her agent, the woman at the next table seems to be eavesdropping and staring at the items in her bag. The woman slips Finlay a note offering $50,000 to kill her husband. Clearly, she got the wrong idea! But this is the beginning of a very interesting chapter in Finlay’s life.

Elle Cosimano came up with one of the freshest, most fun, and interesting premises for a mystery this reviewer has ever seen. Her writing is terrific, the characters well-rounded and completely credible, and the story will grab readers and not let go until the end of this romp.
