For Your Own Good
For Your Own Good has to be one of the most disappointing books I’ve read this year. The story starts out with so much potential but then quickly falls flat on its face as there are no surprises, just a psychotic teacher who needs to be stopped. Teddy Crutcher is a teacher at a prestigious private school. For students and faculty Teddy does not like, he makes their lives hell. Teddy takes things too far one day when he uses poison from a plant growing outside his home to spike the coffee pods in the teachers’ lounge. Teddy doesn’t count on the pods being used by a gathering the school is having and the wrong person dies. From there, Teddy tries again, but this time, he shoots the poison right into the victim’s lunch container.
The story goes on and on with people being accused of murder and Teddy getting away with it. Again, there are no surprises in this book. We are simply waiting to see who will die next or if Teddy will get caught. Unlikeable characters from start to finish with a really dark undertone throughout the whole book.
