From the Earth to the Shadows: Valkyrie Book Two
Malin Krigare has bigger things to worry about now than her Valkyrie mother’s poor work ethic. Her boyfriend, Asher, has been taken by a demon into Kurnigia, the underworld, and the world is about to end as those demons plan to escape. When Odin asks her to retrieve a special sword from the underworld that can take out any immortal for good, her only hesitation is how she might be able to save Asher as well. After rounding up her crew and supplies, she sets out to find the sword and save the world, but this is only the first step in a growing list of things to do to be the hero.
This sequel to Between the Blade and the Heart could have been two books or even two sections, but there’s no doubt it is fast-moving and action-packed. The romance is still sweet but not center stage, allowing the Norse mythology to take the focus. The glossary at the end is of immense help in a book with many references to obscure languages and mythological creatures. Told with humor and chapters ending in cliffhangers, it is a shame that this series is only a duology.
