Gods, Heroes, and Monsters: Discover the Wonders of Ancient Greek Myths
Readers often skip over the introduction in books, but this book has a short introduction that will draw young readers in and hold their attention as they learn about the ancient myths of Greece. The rest of the book is filled with wonderful short versions of the tales of ancient Greece along with illustrations, photographs, artwork, and wonderful graphics to accompany these writings. In addition to the tales, most of the major figures — gods, demigods, nymphs, muses, creatures, and monsters — that populate Greek mythology are well described on the pages containing the tales in which they’re involved. The curious relationships among the gods and others are neatly explained. The writing is clear and concise, filled with delicious details and wonderful descriptions. Each piece is something that will fascinate young readers (and a lot of older ones as well) and give them a good foundation in the rich culture of ancient Greece. This collection will very likely send readers off in search of more information and longer versions of these classic stories. This book is a winner.
