Grumpy Pants
Penguin is having a bad, grumpy day. What will help him feel better? Will stomping help? Throwing all of his grumpy clothes on the ground? Maybe a nice, cold bath is all Penguin needs to turn his mood around.
Author and illustrator Claire Messer has created a book that all kinds of young readers will identify with Grumpy Pants. We all have bad days, but sometimes kids have a hard time moving past them. This book not only normalizes grumpy moods–because even little kids are allowed to be grumpy sometimes!–but it provides a practical idea for how relaxation might help.
The unique illustrations, created through linoleum printing, are bright and colorful, and there is a delightful contrast between the relatively cheerful pictures and the unhappy expression on Penguin’s face. This picture book is short and simple, but little ones will love it nonetheless.
