Haunting and Homicide
Ever since she was a little girl, Lou has had a unique ability to see ghosts which has helped her grow a business. The only trouble she has is with a rival tour guide who often accuses her of being a fraud. Everybody knows the two have bad blood so when he’s found dead, she’s the most obvious suspect. When his ghost appears asking for her help and it’s discovered that the murder weapon came from her shop, she knows her only option is to find the killer.
Each character brings the right amount of charm, particularly Nan who is larger-than-life, and Bryce who adds a sweet innocence to the story. Ghosts are essential aspects of the story such as Kenneth who is a lovely character as he serves as a necessary source of support for Lou and ironically brings so much life into the story. His commentary is entertaining and heartfelt which makes him an easy favorite.
The murder elements are balanced by the complicated family drama that is woven throughout such as her grandma’s antics, her younger brother showing up, and iffy dynamics with her parents. Haunting and Homicide never wavers on the charm, fun, and heart, making for an easily addicting read.
