Hector’s Favorite Place
Hector is a hesitant hedgehog, content with what he has available to him, and not too sure about what fun might await him elsewhere. Hector has a history of loving to be active and doing things, but lately he has convinced himself that he would rather be in his favorite place, his house. By gaining courage and developing self-understanding, Hector is able to find a new favorite place and be with his best friends again. Children will learn that it is okay to have some fears, but they should learn to rationalize them so as to not worry about everything that would hinder them from enjoying life. My four-year-old daughter loved to see Hector coming out of his shell and all the fun that he was able to have once he let go of his fears. It is fun to see other woodland animals drawn out and made to be friends with each other and actually have an impact on another animal and his well-being. This book has a strong message about letting go of personal insecurities written in a simple, child-friendly way.
