Her Name Is Knight (Nena Knight, 1)
/In Her Name is Knight, Nena Knight is an assassin for the Tribe, a powerful business syndicate made up of Africans determined to protect Africa. When she was fourteen, Nena watched as her whole family and village in Ghana were slaughtered and she was sold into captivity. She suffered through unspeakable abuse until the Knight family saved her, took her in, and trained her to be an assassin. Nena is skilled at her work, until one day she ends up saving a mark instead of killing him. This starts her on a path that leads her to the man who murdered her family and sold her. She will stop at nothing to end this man, even if it means going against her new family.
This is an absolutely fantastic book. There is a rightful trigger warning from the author at the beginning of the book. There are some very hard parts to get through, but this is difficult because you know that this happens every day to someone in the world. Nena’s character gives you hope, because if she can survive all of that, there is hope for the rest of us. It’s a highly emotional read, but well worth your time.
