Hide and Seek History: Ancient Egyptians
Hide-and-Seek History: Ancient Egyptians is a gorgeous life-the-flap book for early elementary kids. The illustrations are just beautiful. The first spread is an archeological dig site, followed by a pyramid, mummies, an imagining of an ancient city, boats on the Nile, and daily life. The color palette is warm and vibrant.
There isn’t an abundance of text, but each spread has a couple of paragraphs of introduction to the topic and then scattered factoids with a flap. When you pull down the flap, you find another rich illustration and a little more information to go with the factoid.
The book is labeled as for ages three and up, but I think kindergarteners through second graders might be the most interested in this book. If you know a young child with an interest in ancient Egypt, this book is a lovely resource to get them started.
