Hooky
Twins Dani and Dorian play hooky when they miss their bus to magic school. Instead of returning home to their upset parents, they decide to ask their Aunt Hilde to tutor them. Adventures and drama ensue when the twins are tasked with bringing a prisoner to the family prison. Everything goes wrong, and the twins have to go on the run. With the help of their new non-witch friends, they help one another on their journey.
The art is absolutely beautiful and magical. Apart from the dark and ominous scenes, there were scenes where the colors were rather soothing and comforting. The art reminds me a little of Studio Ghibli’s Kiki’s Delivery Service, but a much darker version. Dani and Dorian, along with the supporting characters, are all so cute and lovable. I especially love Dani’s character because she is hilarious. She isn’t the smartest witch of the bunch but she’s so darn adorable. Because it’s a graphic novel, I love how expressive Dani’s facial expressions are. Fantasy graphic novel enthusiasts will delight in this webtoon turned graphic novel!
