I Killed the King

Crown Prince Kellam was hopeful about the peace treaty to be signed at dawn after ten years of war. However, when the king summons him to a meeting the evening before, along with an animal tamer, a king’s guard, a questionable healer, and a princess, Kellam doesn’t know what to expect. When the lights go out and the king turns up dead, they all suspect each other, but they all have their secrets. They have until dawn to figure out what happened while keeping the entire castle unaware, or everything the king worked for will be wasted. The treaty will be void. The castle will be lost. Is it magic? Is it madness? Or is it simply mayhem aimed at taking down a kingdom?

This is Knives Out paired with Agatha Christie, with a touch of magic to fill in the holes. Mix and Hannah drop in details that derail the investigation and send it off in unexpected directions. No one wants anyone in the locked room mystery to be guilty, but someone has to be. Bodies keep dropping, secrets keep unfolding, but the terror goes on. Deliciously dark.
