It Had to Be You
It Had To Be You reminded me of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith—two assassins hired to kill one another. In this book, Eva and Jonathan meet on a sleeper train to Paris. They are in the same car and find themselves attracted to one another. The problem? Jonathan has been shot and is bleeding. On top of that, he’s taken an ecstasy pill so he’s acting kind of weird.
I absolutely loved the banter between the characters as they started to reveal themselves to one another. The relationship is, of course, complicated because they don’t want to kill one another, but yet they are hired assassins. Neither character is sure of what he or she wants to do, so instead, they do a little dance. As Eva and Jonathan reveal the secrets among them, they realize that no one is who they seem which ends up being dangerous for them and for anyone close to them.
This book is a fun read and has both humorous and serious parts in it, even though it is unrealistic and silly at times.
