It Will Just Be Us
The Wakefield mansion is haunted by ghosts and memories of both the past and the future. Sam and her mother live there alone until Sam’s sister Elizabeth shows up eight months pregnant. Sam begins seeing a new ghost, a faceless one who harms animals and the other ghosts. He seems to know her and tries to hurt her constantly. There is something familiar about the boy and Sam is horrified when she figures out who he really is. She is going to try to stop it from happening, but little does she realize that you can’t stop the future, only set it in motion. She learns too late that in the end, It Will Just Be Us.
This was a fantastic ghost story. Every part was great. I loved that the house had a mind of its own, as well as the backstories of all the ghosts and the Swamp Witch. It was also interesting how the house would show you memories of the past and the future. You can’t help but feel bad for everyone who has lived in that house. They either die, are tortured, or go mad. I guess haunted houses will do that to you. Overall, a book you should probably read during the day, but definitely worth your time.
