Stephanie goes to work like any other day at the Bail Bonds office, but on this day, she ends up as manager to a deli. Her boss, Vinnie, evidently received the deli as collateral for a bad bond. There is an opening for manager because the last few managers have ended up missing after taking out the trash. The only evidence is one shoe left in the back alley. Although Lula and Stephanie put forth a good effort, they stink at working food service, but they have to find the kidnapper. The trick will be figuring out the mystery before one of them ends up missing too.

Readers will enjoy Lula’s antics and Stephanie’s crazy family (though not featured much), it is a worthy read. Yes, it is formulaic, but if readers want a good beach read or something light but funny, this will fill the ticket. The love triangle element is present, and the romantic tension abounds, but it seems Ranger and Morelli know their place—for now. While there is no release date for number 26, the mild cliffhanger indicates Stephanie will be back, hopefully with a new plot line.
