Looking for a Sign: A Novel
Having absolutely devoured Dumond’s first book, Queerly Beloved, I was beyond excited for her second novel. And while Looking for a Sign definitely left me wanting a little more, there were so many things I enjoyed about the story.
After the end of a decade-long relationship, twenty-nine year old Gray is looking to settle down and start building the supportive family she’s always dreamt of and never had. On the advice of her best friend, Cherry, Gray seeks out famous astrologer Madame Nouvelle Lune to give her some advice on navigating her current relationship conundrum.
With the planet Saturn making its return, Madame assures Gray her woes are all part of the plan, and to look to the other astrological signs as guidance on how to move through her situation. Gray being the Aries she is, turns this advice into a dating challenge to go on a date with all twelve signs before her thirtieth birthday.
There was so much thoughtful character development for Gray, and the dates are steamy and cringey in equal measures. I just had a hard time connecting with Gray and her cookie-cutter white picket dreams. A great read for Mazey Eddings and Rachel Lacey fans.
