Love Me Tomorrow
Emma has sworn off love. Romance. Relationships. Entanglements of all kinds. She was young enough to remember the implosion of her parents’ marriage, which she thought was the very epitome of love. Besides, who has the time? She has to study, take care of her grandfather, and go to work cleaning houses. When she finds a letter at one of the houses, she thinks it’s for a household member and tosses it. Then she finds another, and it’s addressed to her. The writer says he’s from the future, and he knows things no one should know. She and her best friend make a list of possible candidates: Theo, best friend from forever? Ezra, music extraordinaire and long-time crush? Or Colin, son of a rich client? Not knowing is making Emma crazy, but she wonders if it matters because love just doesn’t.
A lot of living and growing goes on between letters, and Emma is as angsty a teen as any. She’s so hung up on the romantic pain of others that she is difficult to like at times, but her character arc is rewarding. Readers may not know everything at the end, but the story is worth the time.
