A mother tells stories to her young son about the village she grew up in and how she used to play and catch fish all day by the riverbank. The little boy is excited to visit his mother’s serene hometown after hearing all the wonderful stories his mother has told him. But when he visits, the place is nothing like how he imagined it. There are no giant mountains or billowy clouds and no one plays in the river anymore. Time has changed and the picturesque village is now a sprawling city.

This was such a sweet story about a little boy and his mother, and I absolutely love the relationship between them. It is nice to see a little boy who is so taken and interested in his mother’s upbringing. I thought it was so cute when the little boy imagined himself playing with his mother as a little girl. I like how, in the end, the little boy and his mother were able to recreate the experience and form their own memories in her hometown. The illustrations were so sweet and perfect for the story. This book is perfect for all the curious children and their families.
