Number One Fan: A Novel
Bestselling novelist, Eli Grey is on her way to her next speaking engagement when she gets in an Uber and accepts a drink from the driver. The next thing she knows is she’s in this guy’s basement and he’s her Number One Fan. Having very few friends and no family to speak of, Eli knows it is up to her to save herself. She will have to discover her captor’s plans in order to understand why this is happening and form her escape. Little does she realize, that his plans are far crazier than anyone could have imagined.
I’m not really sure what to say here. This book is labeled as horror, but it definitely does not fit that category. It was one of the strangest books I’ve read with quite the twist on the classic kidnapping. A lot of the story wouldn’t have worked out logistically and was just plain odd. My guess is that if you like Meg Elison’s others books, you would like this one. I didn’t enjoy it and couldn’t wait for it to be over.
