In this final installment in the Illuminae Files, fan-favorite characters Nik, Ella, Hannah, Ezra, Kady, and AIDAN are back, along with two new protagonists, Asha and Rhys, who are stationed on warn-worn Kerenza IV itself. With the liquidation of all remaining Kerenza inhabitants imminent, the group must take final, desperate measures to save themselves and their loved ones and expose the atrocities that were committed on Kerenza by the BeiTech corporation.

All the Illuminae books are gorgeous and innovative, combining pictures, chat logs, diagrams, and more to tell an amazingly compelling story of people who are fierce in the face of adversity and seemingly impossible odds. Obsidio brings events to a final showdown, and the narrative proceeds at a fast, gripping pace. Indeed, it is sometimes so fast that the deaths of thousands of people do no not always register with the readers with quite the same impact as in the previous two books, but perhaps the focus is meant to stay more on the protagonists in this finale. Overall, the book is sure to be a hit with those who have been following the series and want to know if the villains will finally get their due.
