Young children often struggle to pronounce names they are exposed to at school which can lead to children changing their names while at school so it is easier to pronounce. This book asks for children not to change their names but to help their classmates and friends learn how to properly pronounce their name. Mirha has just attended her first day of school and introduces herself to the entire class. Throughout the rest of the day the other students greet Mirha but pronounce her name in a number of different ways, none of them correct; even teachers have trouble pronouncing her name. When she gets back home she tells her mom that she wants to change her name, but her mother urges her not to change her name as her name is beautiful and unique, instead she must stand up and tell others that they have pronounced her name wrong. This beautifully illustrated book is an excellent way to help children who are beginning to go to school to learn how to pronounce names that might be difficult or different than what they are used to. The book is perfect for families to read together.
