The Bane Witch
Piers Corbin is on the run. After she fakes her own death to escape her violent husband, she tracks down her long-lost aunt who lives in a remote area. Piers soon learns that her family history may explain her proclivity to forage poisonous plants. Her aunt Myrtle also reveals that she may be able to help Piers escape her old life for good if she is willing to use her strengths to help the “family business.”
I was pleasantly surprised by The Bane Witch! This book was so captivating – the writing flowed nicely and the venery of witches was the epitome of feminism. This book was part thriller, fantasy, and romance and it kept my attention. I was impressed with Ava Morgyn’s world-building and lyrical descriptions of the settings where the bane witches thrived. The magical elements felt quite believable.
I adored the quips against the patriarchy and how the women were empowered to fix society by eliminating men who harmed women. Readers should be aware that there are strong descriptions of physical and sexual abuse, yet I thought they aided in depicting the witches as true heroines!
