The Bell Lady of Blairmont Manor
In The Bell Lady of Blairmont Manor, Thia has recently purchased Blairmont Manor in the hope of turning it into a boutique hotel in the small town of Daffodil. The home is beautiful and secluded but has never held occupants for long. Thia can’t get anyone to tell her why, until she starts seeing things that aren’t there and hearing laughter and footsteps. Just when she thinks she’s totally lost her mind, the townsfolk begin to speak up and tell her of the ghost that lives there, who will do whatever it takes to keep the Manor just how she likes it.
I was really excited about this plot. However, most of the characters fell pretty flat, especially Thia and Winifred. The plot twist came out of nowhere, with a one sentence explanation like it should be obvious but had no basis. Winifred’s story was never fleshed out, pun intended. There could have been so much more to this book. I love ghost stories, but this one just didn’t do it for me. Instead of creepy, it came off more depressing. I can’t really think of anyone to recommend this to.
