This is te third installment of the Mayflower Bride saga and possibly my favorite until I read the next. One can’t help but fall in love with the series. We have the strong-willed and independent Marcy Lytton, daughter of an English mother from whom she inherited her strong will and a Mohawk father from whom she inherited her expertise in scouting. She had been a scout for the British for some time, and they now feel she’s perfect to take on an extremely dangerous assignment. It does have one draw back–she has to pose as a wife to French spy Elias Dubious. It was not something he was all for, except the choices were pose as her husband or have a date with the hangman. Their mission is to take a shipment of gold to the British and of course not get caught. And that starts the beginning of a journey that not only forces them to trust each other but builds a bond that develops into love. The history and romance just bring the characters to life, and you want the story to keep going. I did enjoy this saga and can’t wait for the next. A must for all who love period pieces. I gave it five stars only because you can’t go higher.
