The Dogs who Play Baseball
Do you like baseball? Dogs? What about dogs who play baseball? This book takes two much loved American classics and puts them together in an excellent middle-grade book about doing what you believe is right, even when it seems impossible.
Sally and Louie love the game. They often play on a local high school field in the afternoons. Louie’s mom is one of the best, most caring people in the world. She’s had an accident that has caused her to be in a wheelchair. There’s an experimental surgery that could help her, but it costs too much money and insurance won’t cover it. Louie is determined that his mom is going to have the surgery, no matter the cost.
The first chapter set the scene for the story, and as some of it was necessary, it could have been condensed. By chapter two, however, I was hooked and flying through the pages of the story. I love the dog. Even though I’m not a huge baseball fan, I appreciated how much the author know about the New York Yankees.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes baseball or dogs. It is truly an inspirational story.
