The Girl With The Make-Believe Husband: A Bridgertons Prequel
I appreciate a historical romance that makes the time period come alive. I truly felt like I was with Cecilia Harcourt during her journey to New York to search for her missing brother, Thomas. In the process, she ends up claiming her brother’s best friend, Edward Rokesby, as her husband, even though they are actually not married. Edward has lost his memories due to injury, and Cecilia feels bound to care for him. As Edward recovers, he starts to sense holes in Cecilia’s story–but does he already love her too much to care, or will Cecilia’s sense of honor demand that she tell the truth?
The additional suspense of Cecilia’s search for her brother and what is missing from Edward’s memory adds substance to this romance, but the chemistry between the two main characters and Quinn’s marvelous character development stand on their own.
