The Golden Key of Gangotri is the story of a college student named Harley Green who was raised by her mother after her father left the family eight years ago in search of the ice cave located at the source of the Ganges River in the Himalayan Mountains. Harley’s father never returned from his pilgrimage in search of this magical place. Before disappearing, he had sent Harley a letter and a golden key that was engraved which Harley wore around her neck. It was her father that taught Harley to not be afraid of things in life and to seek out new adventures to learn new things. Harley makes the decision to embark on a journey of her own to India in search of what her father was seeking. While in India, she meets a young man named Rajou who ends up going with Harley on her adventure through Gangotri and to the source of the Ganges River. One of her professors, Dr. Shelby, also ends up going on the journey because this had always been a dream of his as well.

This story had a wonderful energy to it. Not only was Harley open to trying new things, but she also didn’t let the various pitfalls break her spirit even though things got rough at times. As she talks to Dr. Shelby, she learns about “The Principle of 18” which is a theory that divides your life into stages of eighteen years at a time. I found this to be extremely interesting and was excited to find out that the author, Eyal Danon, has written a book about this system. Harley ends up implementing this system in her life after she learns that there are different ways to become educated and school is only one of those ways.

As the story unfolds, the reader learns that some of the characters have secrets. Secrets that have gone untold for too long. I loved how the author created this twist in the storyline and it really helped to create another layer in the story. Overall, The Golden Key of Gangotri touched upon some very important topics that most people would benefit from. Stepping out of your comfort zone to reach goals, forgiveness, guilt, and reaching for your dreams are just a few of them. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to anyone who needs a little spiritual lift and positivity in their life. I am also looking forward to getting a copy of The Principle of 18 by this author.
