The Hidden is a fast-paced story that will engage its readers from the very first page. A little girl is left in front of a shop. A woman comes to claim her saying that she is her mother and that Leonie, the little girl, loves to run away. She is allowed to take the little girl home. A man is found almost dead in his bathtub, drugged with the back of his head bashed in. Pair this with the storytelling of Celtic folklore and you have an exquisite mystery and thriller.

This book had me turning its pages wanting to know what would happen next. Its characters all have deeply intricate and intertwined stories. Joanna Harper, the policewoman working on the case of the missing little girl and the injured man in the hospital, is related to the main character, Ruby, who is very much involved in the current investigation. A very exciting cat and mouse chase with beautiful folklore and themes of love, courage, and evil. This book is perfect for fans of Chevy Stevens, Clare Mackintosh, and Ruth Ware.
