The Last Hamilton: A Novel
When Elizabeth Walker dies, she leaves a mystery behind. As the sole surviving ancestor of Alexander Hamilton, she’s been part of an elite group dedicated to preserving democracy in the United States. Upon her death, her best friend Sarah and husband Ralph start to unravel the secrets of The Last Hamilton. In some ways, this book is a bit like The Da Vinci Code in that Sarah and Ralph have to unravel clues Elizabeth has left them to determine what is at stake and why someone would want Elizabeth dead. An ornate, antique key, maps, hidden histories within old New York buildings, and a plot to undermine the American dollar are at the heart of this thriller.
Writer Jenn Bregman has crafted a page-turner that doesn’t fully reveal its secrets til the end. A few of the plot twists are predictable, but they are still rendered in a fun way when the truth finally comes to light. If you like mystery without gore, this one’s for you.
