The Legend of Uh
Someone can only be knighted once, so what’s the most logical thing to do? Knight his son! DJ isn’t particularly fond of this idea, considering he hasn’t done anything to earn it. So he gathers a party— a wannabe ranger, a bookish orc, and a very loud friar- to go on a quest to retrieve the amulet from the Goddess. Easy enough, it’s not like they’re going to the temple, no one ever returns from there. Well, it should be easy if they ever reach the temple.
Every moment of reading this was a joy; it’s a cozy fantasy adventure about finding oneself and maybe making a found family along the way. There are violent points, a few of which are a little graphic, the magic system is simple to understand, and there’s information sprinkled throughout the book connecting the slightly disjointed plot together. The characters are fun, unique, and many break stereotypes; a bookish orc, for starters. DJ’s father seems to be the typical hero at first, and the name Sir Dashing should give you a good idea of his personality, but there’s more to him than that, and it’s refreshing to find parents who care and are present.
