The Lie She Wears
To say Pearl Davis has a strained relationship with her mother, Sally, is an understatement. They’ve always struggled to get along, even more so with Sally’s cognitive decline. When Sally dies in a car accident, Pearl receives a letter from her mother confessing to a murder. Pearl finds more letters, along with a body in the garden, confirming that she didn’t really know her mother at all. All of Sally’s secrets are now Pearl’s. The Lie She Wears now may just be the death of Pearl as well. ||Interesting plot idea, but that story got convoluted fast. By the end, I felt like I had whiplash trying to keep up with all the plot twists, and I’m still not sure I understand the ending at all. There were a lot of inconsistencies her,e and I found it really hard to like either Pearl or Zelda. I’m sure if you like Elle Marr’s other books, you will probably like this one. But if you are looking for a thriller, I would recommend you choose something else.
