The Man with the Silver Saab: A Detective Varg Novel (3) (Detective Varg Series)
Ulf Varg is head of the Department of Sensitive Crimes in the Malmo Police Department in Sweden. He investigates unusual crimes, and in this installment in the series, he has a particularly interesting case. Anders Kindgren is seeking his help in finding out who is trying to ruin his professional reputation as an art consultant. Varg and his team have a few suspects but it will take a little time to sort through them. Meanwhile, Varg is busy caring for his dog Martin, who has been in an accident with a squirrel, and thinking about the state of his own love life.
Alexander McCall Smith has once again produced a fun and captivating novel that is layered with a host of relationships and meandering themes revolving around ordinary life. As always, he is full of wit, humor, and elegant descriptions of the mundane and the extraordinary. I can’t think of another author who is as prolific and perceptive as Mr. Smith. All of which makes him a pleasure to read. And Ulf Varg is a memorable character that I’m sure we will meet again in another installment.
