The Perfect Neighborhood: A Novel
The Perfect Neighborhood centers around the families and couples who live in a neighborhood of Oak Hill, New Jersey. The story begins from the point of view of Rachel Barnes, the mother of five-year-old Billy Barnes, who goes missing when walking home from school. I don’t know about you, but five seems a little young to be doing anything unsupervised, let alone walking home from school. As the neighborhood shifts blame from the late babysitter to Billy’s wild teenage half-brother to the au pair that Rachel fired not long ago, it seems like the police don’t have any strong leads.
This book is well written from start to finish, and I really liked that the chapters were written from different points of view. Readers can see things through the eyes of Rachel, Cassidy the babysitter, and Allison, the woman who runs away from her seemingly perfect rockstar husband. The pieces all come together neatly as the story unravels. It wasn’t very hard to guess the ending because the characters were so well developed. The Perfect Neighborhood is perfect for fans of domestic suspense!
