The Socialite’s Guide to Murder
Welcome to the Pinnacle Hotel and The Socialite’s Guide to Murder. It’s 1958 in New York and Evelyn Elizabeth Grace Murphy is the Princess of the Pinnacle. As the owner’s daughter, she gets to live in the penthouse and do whatever she pleases. She hasn’t left the hotel in over a year, as she sees it as her safe place. But when a painting is stolen and its artist murdered not long after, Evelyn knows she’ll have to leave eventually as nowhere is completely safe. With the help of her friends and new love, she’ll solve every mystery at the Pinnacle for she is an expert at finding lost things.
This was my first historical mystery set in anything more recent than the Victorian Era and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, Evelyn is a spoiled princess, but you can’t help but love her plucky charm. If you love cozy mysteries and charming characters, you will love this book. The story was more about the characters than necessarily the plot, but it was still fun. I can’t wait to find out what other crazy adventures Evelyn and Mac get themselves into.
